In the West, the rabbit is a symbol of fertility. It is thanks to this tradition that in springtime, during Easter celebrations, we eat chocolate rabbits made using moulds such as this one. The Easter bunny is mentioned in some Germanic tales. According to a German legend, a poor woman unable to give her children sweets is said to have hidden eggs in the garden. The children noticed a rabbit in the garden and believed it to have laid the eggs.
