Writing about food disgust
Contest for scribes with a strong stomach
Adriaen Brouwer, The Bitter Draught, h/p, c. 1636-1638 (DP)
While some write reams about delicious food, this does not mean we should let food we find distasteful render us speechless nor let it quash our creativity.
A few months ago, we invited you to take part in our short story competition on the emotion of disgust for certain dishes or food, or even aroused by culinary situations.
After a thorough study of all the stomach-churning submissions, our slightly nauseated jury has reached a decision and now presents you with the laureates of this yucky competition.
Brace yourselves!
